The Story
From an early age golf and speedway have always been the two sports that have interested me. My interest in racing came from watching racing at Te Marua Speedway near Wellington, Saturday nights during the summer were spent on the banks cheering on your favourite drivers. Back then my favourite driver was stockcar driver Clark Proctor, I would meet Clark some years later having started my caddying career but still taking in speedway meetings any chance I had. Realising how passionate I was about racing Clark offered to build me a street stock, an entry level form of racing and from my first time behind the wheel I was instantly hooked on the adrenalin that racing gives you. That was back in 1986 and after one season in street stocks I moved up to the Saloon car class.
Today there are two classes of Saloons, Saloons and Super Saloons. The Speedway season commences in October and runs through to the end of April, any weeks Tiger is not competing during these months I will be in New Zealand racing. I compete in both the Saloon and Super Saloon class and each weekend choose the premier meeting to compete in. Often I will race both cars at one meeting, in a normal season we will compete in around twenty-five meetings.
The cars are built and prepared by crew chief Mel Hills and Ross Simpson at Caddyshack Racing headquarters in Whenuapai, West Auckland. On race nights Ian Merrilees completes our crew, Ian has crewed for me since the 96/97 season. Dedicated volunteers like Ian are vital to any race team and Ian is a very important part of our team.

When time permits Mel races the 112R Valvoline Mustang Saloon and Ross also competes at meetings organized by the Waiuku Dirt Track Club racing a Mitsubishi Mirage.
Caddyshack Racing runs exclusively under the Valvoline colours and local sponsorship comes from Kumeu Tyres, PPG and Go Fast.
