The Foundation

Mission Statement

Having been a Professional Caddy since I was fifteen I am very fortunate to have made a living in a game I love. Whilst I have experienced many great moments on the tour some of my best memories have come from the response we receive from the juniors who have been assisted through my Foundation.

Shortly after joining Tiger in 1999 and seeing his passion for junior golf and what he is doing to help juniors through his Foundation, the Tiger Woods Foundation it occurred to me that I could do something similar for juniors in New Zealand.

After numerous conversations with officials involved in junior golf in New Zealand it was evident many provinces were struggling for financial support and with this in mind the Steve Williams Foundation was born in 2001. A board of Trustees was set up including my wife Kirsty Williams the Foundation's CEO, Tiger, Tiger's Manager Mark Steinberg, Ian Miller, our accountant David Boon (CA B Com) and myself, Founder. Guidelines were then set in place for the ongoing direction of the Steve Williams Foundation.

The Foundation aims to help juniors throughout New Zealand particularly those in remote areas and the smaller provinces that struggle for sponsorship

Whilst walking the fairways of the world's best golf courses it always gives me a great feeling to look up on the leaderboards and see fellow Kiwis names up there. I would love to see more New Zealand professionals playing the tour, hopefully we can encourage more juniors to play golf and go on to be professionals.

Having been a junior golfer in New Zealand I am excited to give back to the game that has been so good to me.

The Steve Williams Foundation also supports Speedway, my other passion away from golf.
